Brevard Chapter
Member Services
Our Chapter offers many services and benefits to our members, and we are continually working to provide additional benefits when possible. Our member services include:
Dinner Meetings - Second Wednesday of every month (except the months of April, June, July, September and December) Our dinner meetings feature guest speakers on various legal topics. A majority of the meetings meet the requirements for 1 hour of Continuing Legal Education credit. The cost of the meeting is $24.00 for members (including meal) and $28.00 for non-members (including meal). The price to attend without a meal or virtually is $10.00 for members and $13.00 for non-members. Each meeting offers networking opportunities and a raffle, in which the proceeds help support a choosen local chartiy.
Networking - Networking with your peers is a valuable tool for you, both personally and professionally. Not only do you form new and lasting friendships, but it opens up a vast sphere of problem-solving resources from which you can draw. For our student members, networking with working professionals can help bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace like nothing else can. For our active members, networking supplies you with the ability to obtain information from your peers that will help you throughout your career.
Social Events - We offer 2 social events each year that are planned by our Board of Directors and sponsored by local law firms and businesses. These events encourage networking and social interaction between our members outside of the office/work environment. Some of the events we have had in the past include, Painting with a Twist, Bowling, and Happy Hour at a local restaurant/bar.
Community Service - Our Chapter has supported a number of nonprofit, charitable organizations, including the Children’s Hunger Project, The Brevard Schools Foundation, Cancer Advocacy Resources and Education, Zonta International, the No Bad Days Foundation, and For the Love of Paws to name a few. Our Chapter also supports the Brevard County Bar Association in such annual events as the Mock Trial Competition.
Job Bank - Our Chapter offers a job bank exclusively for its members, which includes listings of companies and law-firms with positions to be filled. While we are not a placement service, we have been very successful helping attorneys find legal staff and members find employment.
Bi-Monthly Newsletter - The Paralegal Pipeline features a letter from a Board of Director, as well as the following information; upcoming dinner meetings and speakers, community service projects; contact information for the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs; reports from the various committee chairs; news from PAF; and other information of interest to the members of the association.
Scholarship Awards - Our Chapter offers annual student and active member scholarships. The Student Scholarship offers a cash award to a full-time college student enrolled in a paralegal program. The Professional Development Scholarship is awarded to an active member who is ready and willing to further their professional career by obtaining certification or additional certification as a NALA Certified Paralegal (CP), NALA Advanced Paralegal (APC), or PAF Florida Certified Paralegal (FCP). This scholarship offers payment or reimbursement for the application and exam fees.
