Wortman, Karen M. CP, FRP
Chapter President

After a long career as a gymnastics coach (20 years), Karen decided to return to school and she obtained her AA degree in Paralegal Studies from Eastern Florida State College in 2013. She started her legal career at the Estate Planning & Elder Law Center of Brevard where she quickly transitioned into their Estate Planning and Guardianship Paralegal. While there, Karen obtained her Certified Paralegal, and Florida Registered Paralegal designations. In 2015, Karen moved to Krasny and Dettmer as their Guardianship Paralegal and became the Secretary for the Brevard Chapter, which began her journey to eventually become the current President of the Brevard Chapter. Karen currently works in the areas of Estate Planning, Guardianship, and Probate/Trust Administration.

Jeremie graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies. She began working for Hernan Castro in 2001 as the File Clerk. She worked there until 2009. While with Mr. Castro, Jeremie worked as a Legal Secretary and then the Firm’s Paralegal. In 2009, Jeremie moved into private practice and has worked for Moser & Moser, PA and Bachand & Bachand, PA. She is currently working with Valentin & Studstill, PLLC, practicing specifically in family law matters.

Parliamentarian/Ethics

Penny Chambers graduated from Southeastern Paralegal Institute, Nashville, Tennessee, American Bar Association approved program in 1990 with a paralegal certificate. Penny graduated from Madison Business College, Madison, Wisconsin, with an Associates in Arts Degree in Legal Secretarial Science in 1981. She has worked in many areas of the legal profession and has acquired her Advanced Certified Paralegal designation for E-Discovery, Discover, Trial Practice, and Contract Administration/Contract Management, as well as the Florida Certified Paralegal designation. Penny currently works as a paralegal specialist and administrative team lead for NASA John F. Kennedy Space Center Office of the Chief Counsel.
